Privacy Policy
In short: We keep no search history and never link your searches to your account. If you create an account, we store only your name and email address. Google may use cookies on pages that show ads (see Cookies). We don't sell your data.
This is a translation; the Turkish version is the binding one.
1. Data controller
This site is run by Oğuzhan Ç. (an individual), who is the data controller for your personal data. Location: Türkiye. Contact: destek@ekorama.com.
You can write to this address with any privacy question or request.
2. Your searches
To show you results, we pass your query on to our search provider. While doing so:
- We don't link your queries to your account or identity.
- We don't keep a permanent search history.
- We don't build an interest or advertising profile about you; for our ad partners' cookies see Cookies.
- We count how often each calculator card (calculator, unit converter, salary calculator and so on) is shown with an anonymous, aggregate counter; neither your query nor your identity is sent.
- To avoid repeating the same query, our server keeps results in temporary memory for at most 60 seconds. This copy is never written to disk and is deleted when the time is up.
Our search provider Brave Search has its own privacy policy: Brave Search privacy policy.
3. If you create an account
An account is optional; the site works fully without one. If you create one, we store:
| Data | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Full name | The name you enter when signing up; to greet you by name on the site and show it in the account panel | Until the account is deleted |
| Email address | Signing you in, password resets | Until the account is deleted |
| Password hash | Checking your sign-in (your password is never stored in plain text) | Until the account is deleted |
| Google account details (only if you use "Continue with Google") | The name, profile photo link and Google account ID Google shares at sign-in; to sign you in. We never see your Google password. The Google sign-in button is loaded only on the sign-in page, with Google's own script (accounts.google.com). | Until the account is deleted |
| Old contribution records | Numbers left over from the discontinued "contribute by watching ads" feature (tree/pet food progress, daily view count). No longer updated or shown. | Until the account is deleted |
4. Technical logs
To prevent abuse and fix errors, our server keeps limited technical logs: IP address, browser type and request time. These logs are deleted after 7 days and are not linked to the content of your searches.
5. Cookies
The cookies and browser storage we use:
- Session cookie — to keep you signed in, if you sign in.
- Saved preferences — your donation choice, light/dark theme, language, region and SafeSearch settings, your last 8 searches shown as suggestions in the search box (you can delete each one from the list) and, if you allowed it for the weather, your rounded location. These stay in your browser only; region and SafeSearch are sent to our server only while you search and are not stored. If you haven't chosen a region, the default comes from your browser's time zone (for example Germany). On your first visit, the language is chosen from your browser's language and time zone in the same way. This information never leaves your device; only the region code (and, on the English and German pages, the language code) is sent with a search.
- Advertising cookies (Google) — Google AdSense ads appear only on our Guides and Tools pages; there are no ads on the home page or in search results. Google and its partners may use cookies to show and measure ads, and may show personalised ads based on your earlier visits. Visitors from the European Union, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are asked for consent first.
6. Who we share data with
We don't sell your data. We use these providers to run the service:
- Brave Search — we pass your query on to get results. Our server makes the search request; thumbnails and site icons in the results load directly into your browser from Brave's image server (imgs.search.brave.com).
- Open-Meteo and MET Norway (Norwegian Meteorological Institute) — for weather searches we send the city name taken from your query to Open-Meteo (district names that aren't provinces, such as "Kadıköy", to Wikidata to find where they are) and that city's coordinates to MET Norway. Our server makes these requests; your IP address doesn't reach these services. If you search for just "weather" or "prayer times" without a city and press "Use my location" and allow it in your browser, your location is rounded to about 1 km and sent to our server once. Our server uses these coordinates to get the place name from OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service and the forecast from MET Norway. For prayer times the place name is matched with Diyanet's list of provinces and districts; outside Türkiye the times are calculated on our server. Your IP address doesn't reach these services. Your location is not stored on our server and not written to logs. So that you aren't asked again next time, the rounded location is kept only in your own browser; you can delete it with "Forget location" on the weather or prayer times card.
- Frankfurter (an open service publishing the European Central Bank's daily exchange rates) — for currency searches (for example "100 dollars in lira") we get rates and chart data from here. Only currency codes (such as USD, TRY) and a date range are sent; neither your query nor your IP address. Our server makes the requests.
- Truncgil Finans and currency-api (open rate data published via jsDelivr) — for gold and silver searches we get current Turkish market prices from Truncgil and historical prices for the chart from currency-api. Only fixed file names and dates are sent; neither your query nor your IP address. Our server makes the requests.
- CoinGecko and Kraken — for cryptocurrency searches we get current prices from CoinGecko and chart data from Kraken's public market data. Only crypto and currency codes and a time range are sent; neither your query nor your IP address. Our server makes the requests.
- Wikipedia and Wikidata (Wikimedia Foundation) — for the info box we show when you search for a person's name. If your query looks like a name of a few words, it is sent to Wikipedia to find the article; other queries aren't sent. Our server makes the requests and also fetches the photos, so your IP address doesn't reach Wikimedia.
- Prayer times — for searches such as "Istanbul prayer times" we get the times of Diyanet (the Turkish Presidency of Religious Affairs) from ezanvakti.emushaf.net, which publishes them openly; only province and district numbers are sent. If the place isn't a province (for example "Kadıköy"), only that place name is looked up on Wikidata (and Open-Meteo if needed) to find its province. Cities outside Türkiye (for example "Berlin") are found on Open-Meteo and their times are calculated on our server with Diyanet's method. Our server makes the requests; your IP address doesn't reach these services. The city you pick is remembered only in your own browser. If you choose to use your location, it is handled as described above for the weather.
- Brave AI answers — on question-like searches, only if you press "Answer with AI", your question is sent to Brave's AI service (Brave Answers) to generate an answer. As your searches already go to Brave, no new company is involved; your IP address isn't sent and answers aren't stored. If you don't press the button, nothing is sent.
- Supabase — storing account data and sending sign-in and password reset emails. Server region: Frankfurt (EU).
- Sign in with Google — if you use "Continue with Google", the sign-in happens through Google, and Google knows you signed in. This is optional; you can also create an account with email and password.
- Google AdSense — showing ads. The ad request goes from your browser directly to Google, sending your IP address, cookie information and the address and content of the page you are viewing. As there is no AdSense on search result pages, your search terms don't reach Google this way. We don't record your searches; how Google uses this data is governed by its own policy. Details: How Google uses information from sites that use its services. You can turn off personalised ads in Google Ad Settings.
- Render (Render Services, Inc.) — hosting the site. Server region: Frankfurt (EU).
If there is a lawful request from the authorities, we share only what the law requires.
7. Your rights
Under the laws in force in the European Union (GDPR) and in Türkiye (KVKK), you have the right to:
- Find out what data we hold about you and ask for a copy
- Ask for incorrect data to be corrected
- Ask for your data to be deleted
- Object to processing and withdraw your consent
- Complain to the relevant supervisory authority
You can delete your account at any time from the account panel; this permanently removes your name, email address and contribution records. For requests, write to destek@ekorama.com; we reply within 30 days at the latest.
8. Children's privacy
Our service isn't aimed at users under 16, and we don't knowingly collect data from this age group.
9. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. If there is an important change, we announce it on the site and inform users with an account by email. The date at the top of the page shows the last update.
