About Ekorama
Ekorama is an independent search engine that keeps no search history and aims to give part of its ad revenue to planting trees and feeding shelter animals.
Why Ekorama?
Almost every search we make online is recorded somewhere, turned into a profile and used for advertising. We built Ekorama because we think search can be simpler than that: find what you're looking for, without your history piling up on a server.
We also believe that something done millions of times a day — searching — can turn into something good, however small. That's why, once there is ad revenue, part of it will go to nature and to street animals.
Where do the search results come from?
Web, image, video and news results come from the independent index of Brave Search, a search infrastructure that builds its own web index and puts privacy first. We pass your query on to Brave; Brave doesn't know who you are. Weather data comes from MET Norway (the Norwegian Meteorological Institute).
Ekorama is made in Türkiye. Some of its tools (salary, VAT, public holidays, prayer times) and its guides are about Türkiye and are available in Turkish only.
Our privacy principles
- We keep no search history; queries are never linked to your account.
- We don't sell your data.
- An account is optional; if you create one, we store only your name and email address.
- Search box suggestions are put together entirely in your browser; nothing is sent to a server while you type.
Details are in the Privacy Policy.
How do we make money?
Ekorama is free. We cover our costs (servers, search infrastructure) and our future donations with ads. We keep ads deliberately limited: they appear only on our Guides and Tools pages. We never put ads among the search results.
How donations will work is explained on the Donations page.
How we prepare our guides
- We rely on sources: our articles are based on publications by official bodies (such as the Turkish Official Gazette, the Turkish Personal Data Protection Authority and Diyanet), international organisations and recognised sources in each field. Every article lists its sources at the end.
- We keep it practical: our aim is to explain a topic with steps the reader can apply right away. We avoid exaggerated promises and alarming language.
- We date everything: every article shows its publication date. When an important fact changes, we update the article.
- Ads don't steer content: our articles are not sponsored; we don't take money for any product or service.
What are the calculators based on?
The salary, VAT and loan calculators use the rates in force in Türkiye: the year's income tax brackets, the minimum wage and social security rates for salaries; the BSMV and KKDF taxes charged on interest for loans. Public holiday and religious holiday dates are based on the relevant law and Diyanet's calendar. We update the calculators when rates change. Results are for information only and don't replace official documents such as a payslip or a bank offer. Calculations run in your browser; the values you type are not sent to a server.
Spotted a mistake?
If you notice something wrong or out of date in an article or a calculator, let us know. We check it, correct it if you're right and update the date.
Who makes it?
Ekorama is an independent project made in Türkiye. It aims to grow with the support of its users, not of a company or investors.
